Shipwreck Beach is on the east coast of Lanai, a wild beach of sand and volcanic rock. The eroded lava sticks out here and there with its sponge-like structure of black rock full of bubbles. At first it looked like an old road bed, but no one builds roads from rock like that. The beach curves this way and that, and around one turn the shipwreck appears, resting on some shoal. |
